The Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act would look to combine Trump’s birthday, June 14, with Flag Day, which is also celebrated on June 14, into federal public holidays.
“Just as George Washington’s birthday is codified as a federal holiday, President Trump’s birthday should also be celebrated to recognize him as the founder of America’s Golden Age,” Tenney wrote on the social platform X on Monday.
George Washington, born on Feb. 22, and Abraham Lincoln, born on Feb. 12, are both honored on President’s Day, which is celebrated on the third Monday of February.
In another post on Friday, Tenney claimed that “No modern president has been more pivotal for our country than Donald J. Trump,” and because of that, she introduced her bill.
“Today, I introduced legislation to designate Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day as a federal holiday, ensuring President Trump’s contributions to American greatness are forever enshrined into law,” she added.
This isn’t the first move from Trump-supporting members of Congress to try and cement his legacy as a leader of the U.S.
Last month, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) introduced a bill that would have Trump’s face added to the Mount Rushmore monument, joining four other iconic presidents.
Another measure from last month came from Rep. Addison McDowell (R-N.C.), who sought to rename the Washington Dulles International Airport after Trump.
More recently, Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) introduced a bill that would rename Greenland to “Red, White, and Blueland.”That bill comes as Trump continues to try and acquire the island territory.
