Fire officials in Hawaii suspended the search for a California man who went missing while swimming along the coast.

The 42-year-old man was last seen on Nov. 20 jumping into an area in Kapalua known as the “Cliff House,” according to the Maui Fire Department.

Officials said the man was reported to have been “washed out in very rough conditions.”

The search was suspended on the night of Nov. 24

“We would like to offer our condolences to the ohana of the missing, and offer our thanks to the United States Coast Guard for their assistance with the search,” the fire department wrote on Facebook.

Fire officials said that the search would continue if there is any new information or if potential sightings are made.

The man’s identity has not been released.
