LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Police launched a search Tuesday for a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on the 405 Freeway in Westwood Monday night.
The crash occurred just before 10:30 p.m. near Santa Monica Boulevard, resulting in a full closure of the southbound side of the freeway, according to California Highway Patrol.
Authorities say the victim — only described as a 66-year-old male pedestrian — had been seen running on the shoulder of the freeway prior to the hit. It was not known why he entered traffic before being hit by a white Toyota sedan.
The driver of Toyota did not remain at the scene.
