Teen suspect arrested after Long Beach shooting
LONG BEACH (CNS) - A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man during a fight between two groups of men in Long Beach, authorities said Saturday.
The victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Officers dispatched about 10:25 p.m Thursday to a "hit shooting" call in the 600 block of Elm Avenue contacted the shooting victim and the suspect, Angel Jiovanni Pheang-Chavez, was still on scene when the officers arrived.
The shooting victim was with a group of men when they got into a fight with a second group of men. Pheang-Chavez allegedly fired a shot toward the first group, striking the victim. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital.
Pheang-Chavez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and his bail was set at $1 million.
There was no other information available and the investigation was ongoing.
