Woman killed in Huntington Park crash identified

A pedestrian who was struck and killed in what law enforcement officials said was a possible hit-and-run collision in Huntington Park was identified Friday.

A pedestrian who was struck and killed in what law enforcement officials said was a possible hit-and-run collision in Huntington Park was identified Friday.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as Maria Castellanos, 68.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to East Florence Avenue and Pacific Boulevard at 2:08 a.m. Thursday where they learned Castellanos was crossing Pacific when she was fatally struck, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

Castellanos was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.

Debris left at the scene indicated that the vehicle in question was possibly a black car and left the scene, according to the CHP.
