The X account for Ye, formerly Kanye West, has been deleted after several days of strange and anti-Semitic posts from the controversial rap star.
At this moment, it is unclear whether Ye himself made the decision to delete the account, or if the company stepped in and deactivated it. However, on Sunday night, the rapper shared a post saying he was “logging out of Twitter.”
“I appreciate Elon [Musk] for allowing me to vent,” he wrote Sunday, according to screenshots from when the account was active. “It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. To we connect again…Good afternoon and goodnight.”
Now, when trying to visit Ye’s account, @Kanyewest, all that is shown is an error message that says, “This account doesn’t exist.”
During the Super Bowl on Sunday, Ye posted a series of posts that had many considered.
“WHY ARE WE LETTING TAYLOR SWIFT BE SEEN ON TV SINGING A SONG ABOUT TAKING A BLACK MAN DOWN AND ACCUSING OF THINGS THAT CAN TAKE A BLACK MAN DOWN FOR LIFE,” West posted. “KENDRICK IS BEING USED BY THESE WHITE PEOPLE AND JEWS AND SO AM I.”
He also wrote days before that he was “NEVER APOLOGIZING FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS.”
Another post saw him praise Adolf Hitler and his fashion style while saying he was a Nazi.
The posts from Ye were so upsetting that X owner Elon Musk stepped in after being asked to do something by countless users, including “Friends” actor David Schwimmer.
Musk said Sunday that Ye’s account was being “classified as NSFW,” which is often the first warning used by the platform when users are posting explicit or inappropriate content.
“You should not be seeing that anymore,” Musk wrote.
The social media remarks weren’t the only action from Ye to raise concern over the weekend, as he also appeared in another Super Bowl commercial, which he again recorded from his phone, like last year. In the TV spot, he directed people to go to his website, which was only selling white t-shirts with a swastika on them.
