Prosecutors have dropped a gun enhancement charge against Alec Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed in the case of the accidental shooting on the set of "Rust" which resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The gun enhancement charge had been sought by prosecutors but the defendants argued that it did not apply at the time of the shooting. Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed now face a maximum sentence of 18 months if convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Baldwin's lawyer had argued that the prosecutors had made a legal error by charging for something not on the books at the time of the shooting and that it was a clear violation of the constitutional protection against "ex post facto" prosecutions. The arraignment of both defendants is scheduled to take place via Google Meet this Friday.

Actor Megan Fox is not only walking back rumors she might have started, she's slamming those who ran with it. As we told you last week, the "Transformers" star set the rumor mill on fire amid speculation that she and Machine Gun Kelly are breaking up.
Fox left a cryptic comment last week before deleting her Instagram that seemed to suggest MGK's guitarist Sophie Lloyd could be involved in the pair's troubles. But now Fox bashes anyone who drew those conclusions, saying she didn't know how "making a joke in order to absolve this girl of a hurtful accusation somehow turned into a confirmation of it."
The actor went on to encourage Lloyd, who just released the cover art for a new single. Fox called the rocker "insanely talented" before warning her Hollywood rumors "only get worse from here." Lloyd responded by "sending (Fox) so much love."
