Vice President Kamala Harris showed up at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield on Saturday afternoon. Air Force Two flew into Barnes in Westfield where the VP was welcomed by Governor Maura Healey. She then headed to Pittsfield to give a short speech, where she also had the chance to meet up with James Taylor.
Before this year's games, on "The Today Show," Simone Biles explained why the Paris 2024 Olympics will be Team USA's redemption tour after winning silver at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. After two qualifying subdivisions, Simone Biles leads the American women's gymnastics team, three points ahead of teammate Suni Lee, despite an issue with her leg. Her coach though later revealed that it's an issue that "popped up a couple of weeks ago" but described it as "minor." She nailed a spot in the finals. Her vault score was "by far the highest in the world this year."
Speaking of Simone, Flavor Flav, who is at the Olympics supporting the women's water polo team, has declared he has a favorite athlete. He announced, "It's Simone Biles! She's my favorite athlete right now. She's going for her ninth medal, man!"
Tom Cruise, Jessica Chastain, and Ariana Grande were among the stars who showed up for the women's gymnastics as well as John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Snoop Dogg, and Peyton Manning. Ariana was hanging with her brother, Frankie, and her "Wicked" co-star, Cynthia Erivo.
Lady Gaga was seen talking to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at a swimming event, and she was heard introducing him to her "fiancé," Michael Polansky. You can actually hear her say, "This is my fiancé, Michael." Lady Gaga sparked engagement rumors with Polansky when she stepped out in April with a massive diamond on her ring finger. This will be her third engagement... once it's confirmed.
Also playing the "maybe she's engaged" game is Adele, who was spotted wearing a diamond ring while out with partner Rich Paul.
Ryan Reynolds has officially confirmed that his new baby Olin is a boy while interviewing Wrexham AFC fan John Bell. John Bell has been gaining fame for walking around in a Deadpool suit for suicide awareness – his son passed away by suicide. Ryan said to John about his own son, "If I love him one-tenth as much as you love Jake, I feel like I've done…a good job."
Celine Dion wowed the world at the Olympics opening ceremony, delivering a performance that left many fans emotional. She performed Edith Piaf's "Hymne à l'amour" at the Eiffel Tower to close out the ceremony on a high note. It was Celine's first live performance since she revealed her stiff-person syndrome in 2022 after all. After, she shared, "I'm honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities! Most of all, I'm so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance."
TMZ reports that Ben Affleck just closed on a mansion for $20.5 million. This is on top of reports that he and Jennifer Lopez are trying to sell their mega-mansion. Jen is said to be doing some house-hunting of her own, and Ben moving his things out of their home last month. Continuing to wear their wedding rings may just be a weak attempt at assuring fans that all is well. The two have been married for just two years.
