A beauty brand named Beauty Concepts has sent a cease and desist to Kim over the name of her new skincare line, SKKN by Kim, for being too similar to the name of their spa, SKKN +, out of Brooklyn. According to Beauty Concepts, they've invested a lot of time, energy, money, and marketing over four years on their spa for Kim to just swoop in and take the name. Kim filed for the trademark for SKKN By Kim in March 2021 for skincare products, lip products, and scrunchies. The trademark office has yet to make a decision, according to Radar.
Paramount Pictures is being sued over "Top Gun: Maverick." The original film was based on a 1983 article in a California magazine by Ehud Yonay. His widow and son filed a notice reclaiming the copyright to the story, which took effect in 2020. According to the paperwork, Paramount distributed "Top Gun: Maverick" without obtaining a new license for the material. In addition to damages, the suit seeks an injunction to bar the studio from distributing the film. "Top Gun: Maverick" is has brought in $300 million domestically so far.
