A.V. Club says Prince's estate has no plans to license ''Purple Rain'' for an energy drink. Bang Energy wanted to use Purple Rain in promotional materials for their drinks and supplements. Prince's estate and its lawyers killed the idea. Bang Energy says, "We greatly respect Prince and his estate and will not 'rain' on their parade. Maybe we can negotiate a deal in the future that is mutually beneficial to both parties."
CNN says Ashley Judd is opening up about her family's experience after her mother Naomi Judd's death by suicide to advocate for privacy for those who find themselves in similar tragedy. In an essay for the New York Times, titled "Ashley Judd: The Right to Keep Private Pain Private," the actress and advocate writes that date of her mother's death was "the most shattering" day of her life. "My beloved mother, Naomi Judd, who had come to believe that her mental illness would only get worse, never better, took her own life that day. The trauma of discovering and then holding her laboring body haunts my nights," Judd writes. "As my family and I continue to mourn our loss, the rampant and cruel misinformation that has spread about her death, and about our relationships with her, stalks my days."
