The lead guitarist behind Fall Out Boy and The Damned ThingsJoe Trohman is set to launch a new mental health-driven podcast called “I Hate Myself” on March 17.

Listen to your favorite Alternative music now on RADIO.COM.

Each episode, hosted by Trohman, will be focused on in-depth interviews with artists and creatives discussing the success of their careers all while coping with depression and anxiety.

Trohman will be joined by co-host, Wade Randolph, the television comedy writer most known for credits on Rick and Morty and Uncle Grandpa. You can listen to a trailer here.

In the first episode of the new podcast, Joe tells the listeners why he named the series “I Hate Myself” and how he is looking to have consistently open and honest conversations about mental health with every guest that joins the show. The show’s first guest will be actor and creative Seth Green (Robot ChickenFamily Guy)

At Trohman’s behest, the podcast will contain many comedic elements while also seriously examining ways to de-stigmatize mental health and normalize everyday conversations around people’s mental health struggles, particularly throughout the persistency of the pandemic.

In a statement about the upcoming podcast, Joe shared, “I’m truly thrilled to be making a show with Heavy Metal. I grew up a huge fan of both the film and the magazine. And while this won’t necessarily be focused on scantily-clad warriors, space aliens, or skeletal ghouls, it’s going to be the most fun show ever about every sci-fi and horror nerd’s favorite malady: depression!”

In episode one, Seth Green shares, “I definitely have an evolving relationship with depression, and the older I get and the more I experience, the more palpable it becomes, and the deeper and more intense it is when I experience it. I think it’s just really important to talk s*** out.” He continues, “And you can’t always talk it out with friends, you can’t always talk it out with your relationships. It is very helpful to have someone who is both educated and objective to help me at least reflect on what I’m feeling, try and understand the root causes, and make any adjustments that I want to or that I can. That’s been incredibly valuable and helpful.”

Additional guests for the show include TikTok and YouTube star, Emma Chamberlain, comedian and voice actor, Ron Funches, horror director and writer, George C. Romero, and actor Ryan Simpkins.

Episodes of “I Hate Myself” will drop every Wednesday on all major podcasting platforms.

The podcast series is produced in association with Heavy Metal Entertainment and Crush pictures with producers, Trohman, Matthew Medney, Tommy Coriale, David Erwin, Jon Lullo, Brendan Walter and Ari Lubet.
