Amy Schumer took to her own social media to really clarify what she was going for with a recent Nicole Kidman joke.

The comedian cleared things up and took her critics to task in the post about the since-deleted joke.

The post for clarity was a screen grab of Schumer’s iPhone Notes app, reading, "Okay so the joke I was making was the way she was posed didn't seem like how a human sits. I was not making fun of how she looks. Nicole Kidman is beautiful and one of the most incredible actors of all time."

Schumer, then went longer in the post’s caption. “I hope everyone is okay and takes a deep breath including all of the think pieces written on this. You guys good? To all of the people who commented on me. I’m so sorry I’m not prettier. Please forgive me. I apologize. It wasn’t even a slow news day. North Korea and Russia are getting too close for comfort. There are deadly storms sweeping our world and a man was convicted of rape,” she wrote.

“But what got your goat was me saying that Nicole Kidman's pose was not human like. Breathe y’all. To the people who write hateful things below I forgive you as a mother, a woman and most importantly as someone who also likes hot goss. Have a good weekend,” she finished.

The joke in question came after Schumer made a comment on a photo of Kidman sitting semi-unnatural at the U.S. Open.

“This is how humans sit,” she wrote at the time.

After claims of “cyberbullying” were levied, Schumer deleted and posted a tongue-in-cheek apology, which she also deleted. This one referenced Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis writing letters in support of Danny Masterson in his trial for the rape of two women.

“I want to apologize to all the people I hurt posting a photo of Nicole Kidman and alluding to her being an alien. I will be asking the cast of ‘That ‘70s Show’ to write letters advocating for my forgiveness.”
