It's pretty fitting that the G.O.A.T. of Broad Street was announced yesterday, just one day before his anniversary of being the 76ers' first overall draft pick in 1996.

The six-foot guard from Georgetown went on to have one of the greatest careers in NBA history, racking up 24,368 points and 5,624 assists.

In 12 seasons with the Sixers, Iverson averaged 27.6 PPG, 6.1 APG, 2.3 SPG, 41.4 MPG, 51.3 TS%, 42.8 VORP, 21.5 PER. In the hardware category, Bubba Chuck did not disappoint either despite never winning an NBA Championship, earning: NBA MVP (2001), 11x All-Star, 2x All-Star game MVP, 3x All-NBA First Team, 3x All-NBA Second Team, NBA Rookie of the Year (1997), 4x scoring champ, 3x steals leader, and being inducted into the Hall Of Fame.

Not many athletes, if any, have ever connected with Philadelphia like Allen Iverson, who was voted the greatest Philly athlete of the last 50 years by the fans.
