Ahead of Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, February 2nd, SportsRadio94WIP will have Andy Reid appreciation day on Thursday, January 30th.
94WIP will celebrate Reid who coached the Eagles from 1999–2012 and is now headed back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2005 with the Kansas City Chiefs. The station will have former Eagles players talk about Reid including hosts Ike Reese and Jon Ritchie, both of whom were on the 2004-2005 Super Bowl squad.
Andy Reid appreciation day will also consist of special guests, discussion, memories and give-aways including limited edition Andy Reid Appreciator t-shirts.
Of course, Reid and the Eagles fell short, losing to the Patriots 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX in February of 2005.
Despite reaching five NFC Title games while coaching the Eagles, Reid only went to the Super Bowl that one time. Including his time in Kansas City, Reid is 1-5 in Championship Games.
Some of the 94WIP hosts, most notably Angelo Cataldi, are not Reid fans. Like Cataldi, Jon Marks is also against Andy Reid appreciation day.
Let me make this perfectly clear: The WIP Morning Show will not be participating in Andy Reid Appreciation Day, regardless of the repercussions. We will never support a coach who enables horrible behavior, lies to the fans and butchers late-game strategy. That is a promise.
