Welcome to SportsRadio94WIP's Judgment Week, where we will find out who we were wrong about and ultimately revisit five topics in Philadelphia sports with the benefit of hindsight.

From Wednesday, July 8th to Wednesday, July 15th submit someone or something that we were wrong about

From Monday, July 20th to Friday, July 24th we will spend each day judging, discussing, and debating one of the five most submitted topics that we were wrong about.

Over the past 30 years at WIP, I have made more than my share of misjudgments, but none that rivals my unfounded joy at the hiring of Chip Kelly by the Eagles. How could I be so wrong? Let me count the ways.

First of all, I would have embraced anyone who replaced Andy Reid, a droning bore who remains — even after winning the Super Bowl in Kansas City — the most overrated coach in the past three decades in Philadelphia sports. Anyone who replaced Reid would have had my immediate support.

Second, Kelly was an immediate fan of our show and our station. He even appeared at the Wing Bowl his first year as Eagles coach. And I responded by (embarrassingly) delivering him pies during a 10-win 2013 season. He made a great first impression.

And third, he had exciting, offensive-minded teams — a perfect recipe for sports talk. Most people look back on the Kelly era as a total disaster; actually, he had two good years and then one terrible one, which included a brief and horrific reign as GM. He did bring some thrills, before the crash.

Even after Kelly left Philadelphia, I felt he had a lot to offer to some team. Of course, that team wasn’t San Francisco, when he bombed. And now he appears equally ineffective back in college ball at UCLA.

The bottom line is, I blew it. In the end, it is me who’s dining on pie — humble pie.
