'The GOAT's Back': Eagles Players React to the Return of Jason Peters

Jason Peters' split with Philadelphia didn't last for long. In fact, it wasn't a split at all. The last game he played was as an Eagle, and the next game he'll play will be as an Eagle.

Still, the announcement that the Eagles had re-signed the nine-time Pro Bowler (seven of them in Philly) brought a wave of excitement to the fan base and, more importantly for this article, to several of Peters' current and former teammates.

Quarterback Carson Wentz was thrilled to have another source of proven protection up front after Brandon Brooks went down to an injury, likely the occurrence that facilitated Peters' return.

The greatest of all time? Perhaps not, but he's certainly up there. Among offensive tackles, Peters ranks at No. 15 on the Pro Football Reference Hall of Fame Monitor, and many think he's destined for Canton.

Backup quarterback Kyle Lauletta is excited, too.

Fellow offensive tackle Lane Johnson -- though now just fellow offensive lineman, considering Peters will foreseeably move to right guard -- shared his feelings of excitement on Twitter as well, using one of Peters' well-known nicknames.

Another member of the offensive line, center Jason Kelce, turned to Instagram to laud his long-time teammate.

Number 71 in the game, but number 1 in your heart!!! Nuff said

Running back Miles Sanders commented on the post with a flexed muscle emoji, showing his approval... who can blame him? After a successful rookie season, he's getting back a guy who made it possible, despite the loss of Brooks.

SportsRadio 94WIP's own Ike Reese commented on the acquisition as well, intrigued, like many, by the position listed.

Former offensive lineman and current RADIO.COM Sports insider Ross Tucker, who played with Peters on the Bills, retold a classic story about his time in camp with Peters.

I was there the day Jason Peters moved from TE to OT and realized he was better than me in 5 seconds.

At 38 years old and at a new position, Peters may not have much left in the tank. But the encouraging support of his teammates is sure to help him in what is likely to be one of the last, if not the last, year of his career.
