G.O.A.T. of Broad Street: No. 11, 10 and 9

Welcome to 94WIP's G.O.A.T. of Broad Street, where we will finally determine who the greatest athlete in Philadelphia sports history is! Remember, in order to qualify, the athlete must have played in Philadelphia in the last 50 years (1970). We are counting down the top 20 Philadelphia athletes over the last 50 years beginning on Monday, June 15th and ending on Thursday, June 25th. The rankings were determined based on votes from our fans and hosts.

G.O.A.T. of Broad Street is brought to you by A Better Financial Plan.

11. Donovan McNabb

Stats: 32,873 yards, 216 touchdowns, 100 interceptions, 92-49 record, 9-7 playoff record (with Eagles)

Awards: 6x Pro Bowl, 5 NFC East titles, 1 NFC Championship, No. 5 retired by Eagles, Eagles Hall of Fame

Analysis: McNabb almost did it all in an Eagles uniform. He owns every single passing record in franchise history. He has more playoff wins than any other quarterback in franchise history. He has won plenty of big games, made plenty of big plays and has plenty of highlights. There is really just one thing keeping McNabb out of the top five on this list — a Super Bowl. Add in a complicated relationship with the fans with the lack of a title, and fans voting McNabb outside of the top 10 isn't that surprising.

Highlights:

10. Bernie Parent

Stats: 2.43 Goal Against Average in 231 games, .917 save percentage

Awards: Won both the Conn Smythe Trophy and Veznia Trophy winner in 1974 and 1975. Stanley Cup champion in 1974 and 1975. No. 1 retired by Flyers. Hockey Hall of Fame inductee in 1984.

Analysis: Speaking recently during his Sunday show with Glen Macnow, Ray Didinger said that the stretch of play Parent put together from 1973 to 1975 was some of the best goal tending he has ever seen in the history of the league. It is hard to argue. Parent played 141 games over those two seasons, winning the Vezina Trophy both seasons while also coming in first in goals-against average. The images of him playing in the old-school goalie mask still resonate with fans, and Parent has become a staple in the Philadelphia community, still rooting for the Flyers and interacting with fans whenever he can.

Highlights:

9. Nick Foles

Stats: 8,703 yards, 58 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, 21-11 record, 4-2 playoff record

Awards: Super Bowl Champion, Super Bowl LII MVP, Pro Bowl MVP, NFL record for touchdowns in a game (7) and consecutive completions in a game (25)

Analysis: Foles' stats in an Eagles uniform certainly don't jump off the page. His 38 starts will be easily the lowest of any player on this list. Perhaps no player in the history of the city, however, had a better game in a bigger spot than Foles did in Super Bowl LII. All Philadelphia wanted was a Super Bowl trophy. Foles delivered it.
