Aaron Nola exposed to COVID-19

In a press conference meeting with manager Joe Girardi, Aaron Nola said he was exposed to COVID-19 but did not test positive.

Aaron Nola says he was exposed to COVID-19, did not test positive and expects to be ready for opening day. He says he understands players opting out of the 2020 season, but hasn't considered doing so himself.

This comes after Nola and several other Phillies players were placed on the injury list last week. Nola declined to say who he was exposed to that tested positive for COVID-19.

This is important news for the Phillies as they contemplate who their opening day starter will be. Zack Wheeler has committed to play the season but also left the door open to opt out depending on the timing of the birth of his baby. Additionally, Nola testing positive for the coronavirus could have postponed his season start date. Now, Nola could start opening day against the Marlins. The rest of the Phillies schedule is set for release at 6pm on MLB Network.
