The Ben Simmons three-pointer hype is making a comeback.

In a Zoom press conference, Brett Brown made it a point to talk about Simmons' three-point shots in practice, saying it is "looking good".

Brett Brown on videos of Ben Simmons shooting: "His three point shot is looking good." Says he is using Ben in a variety of ways.

Here is the full quote:

"I think just the variety of ways that we’re trying to use him helps in some capacity, and I think what is most helpful is his mentality. He’s coming down here with just a tremendous spirit. His three-point shot is looking good. He’s shot more threes in practice the last few days than he might’ve for almost half a season. And he looks good, he feels good, and I know he’s getting tremendous encouragement from his teammates."

Sixers fans were ecstatic to see Simmons shooting threes in practice again, but this eerily resembles the hype around Simmons shot last offseason. It was widely speculated that Simmons would shoot threes more often this season, and while he did make his first two career three-pointers, he has only attempted six all season.

The encouragement from Brett Brown and Sixers' teammates is nothing new. In December, Brown said he wanted to see Simmons take "at least one triple per game" in an attempt to nudge Simmons to shoot. In January, Brown openly admitted that he contributed to the pressure for Simmons to shoot, saying "evidently I have failed… this is one of these things that is never going to go away."

Time will tell if Simmons actually shoots when the season resumes in front of no fans. The Sixers first game is on August 1 against the Pacers.
