Slay on Madden 21 rating: 'I just need my 90'

EA Sports revealed the Madden NFL 21 top player ratings at cornerback on Thursday afternoon, with Eagles cornerback Darius Slay ranking within the top 10 at the position.

Slay had some thoughts on the matter:

The newly acquired defensive back is rated an 88 alongside the Dolphins' Byron Jones and Cardinals' Patrick Peterson. The Patriots cornerback Stephen Gilmore rates out as the best cornerback in the league with a 99 rating, one of just four players in the game to have the highest rating possible.

Slay's feelings on his ratings have not changed much since last year, when he was rated an 87 and felt disrespected by Madden. The Eagles acquired Slay from the Lions for third and fifith-round picks, No. 85 and No. 166. Philadelphia then re-signed Slay to a three-year, $50 million extension that includes $30 million guaranteed. Slay became the highest paid back in the league, making $16.7 million per season. Bryon Jones, who signed a deal with the Dolphins this past offseason, ranks second on that list making $16.5 million per year.

On Wednesday, ESPN released the top rated pass rushers, where the Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox ranked 5th with a 96 overall rating, the highest on the Eagles team.

Eagles rookies are expected to report in just five days on July 21, while veterans are set to return on July 28 to signal the start of training camp.
