The Eagles addressed one of their biggest needs remaining on their roster Monday in a major way, bringing back offensive guard Stefen Wisniewski.
Wisniewski announced the move on Twitter, posting a picture of him signing a contract that he will ensure he is back for a third season with the team. Wisniewski tested free agency this offseason, but ultimately is ending up back where he is needed in Philadelphia.
For the Eagles, landing Wisniewski is a big deal. Wisniewski has played at a high level for the team over the last two seasons when called upon and gives them a critical depth piece in the interior of the offensive line. Wisniewski now projects to be the top backup at both guard spots and at center, filling three key roles the Eagles had no real answer for prior to his signing.
Considering the fact that Brandon Brooks is still recovering from a torn Achilles, Wisniewski could also end up starting in Week 1. The Eagles have to feel far more comfortable knowing they have Wisniewski to lean on if Brooks isn't ready, as opposed to second-year player Matt Pryor, who has never played a meaningful snap in an NFL game.
Although it was already obvious from the moves they have made this offseason, bringing Wisniewski back is yet another sign that the Eagles are serious about going for it all this season, as they are now loaded at almost every position on offense and most of them on defense as well.
