The Eagles are continuing to focus on the safety position after passing on drafting one in the 2019 NFL Draft.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter the Eagles will host safety Johnathan Cyprien on Tuesday for a visit and workout, a potential precursor to the team signing the five-year veteran.

Cyprien, 6-foot-1, 211 pounds, has totaled 506 tackles, 16 pass deflections, three sacks and two interceptions in 70 career games. Cyprien recently worked out for the Indianapolis Colts. He is considered an extremely versatile player that is also a hard hitter.

The decision for the Eagles to bring in Cyprien for a visit, and for Cyprien to accept the invitation, is interesting.

Cyprien might just be looking for any job he can get, but the safety has started every single game he has played in during his career, something that presumably won't be happening in Philadelphia. If he does indeed sign with the Eagles, Cyprien would be behind at least Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod on the depth chart, and would likely be behind Andrew Sendejo and Blake Countess as well — at least to start.

Unless, of course, Cyprien is being potentially promised a larger role.

The Eagles continuing to bring in safeties, like Countess and now potentially Cyprien. At the same time, their best defensive player and top safety — Malcolm Jenkins — is staying away from voluntary OTAs to show his displeasure with his contract. It is also possible he doesn't show up to mandatory minicamp next week. Schefter mentions Jenkins in his report about Cyprien visiting the Eagles.

Perhaps the two aren't related, but as Jenkins sits at home, you have to imagine he isn't thrilled to see the Eagles bringing in safety-after-safety.
