The Eagles selected Auburn offensive guard Jack Driscoll with the No. 145 overall pick on Saturday, their second of two fourth-round picks.
Driscoll, 6-foot-5, 306 pounds, played right tackle in college, starting 45 of the 46 games he played in. He allowed only eight sacks and 11 pressures in those 46 games. He is projected to play guard at the next level due to a lack of length, and that is likely where the Eagles see him playing -- although they do like position versatility, so perhaps they see him as a backup at multiple spots.
The Eagles also had pick No. 146, but traded it to the Dallas Cowboys for pick No. 164 and a 2021 5th-round pick.
Here are some scouting reports on Driscoll:
Via NFL.com: There will be teams who scratch Driscoll off their lists completely due to a lack of length and play strength, but zone-scheme teams who covet athleticism over brawn might take a look. He will need to add real mass and muscle in order to have a shot. His athleticism shouldn't be overstated, but he does have range as a run blocker and in pass protection. Driscoll has some pass protection ability that can be further cultivated, but he's scheme limited as a run blocker. His short arms could cause teams to view him as a developmental guard with tackle value in a pinch.
Via The Draft Network: PROS: Fluid athlete with nimble feet and easy lateral mobility. He can work back inside and reach block three techniques and he has terrific range in the run game. Smooth feet enable him to frame pass rushers and mirror - he's pretty patient in pass protection and he isn't easily drawn out of his sets. Like his tempo working into blocks and he plays with good bend. Keeps a consistent base and he redirects nicely. Positional blocker in the run game with the movement skills needed to execute in wide zone concepts. Deliberate about placing, fitting and keeping his hands fit. CONS: You wish he had more mass, length and power. Has to get stronger to reach his potential at the next level. Needs to be more committed about keeping his pads low and maximizing his play strength. Body control doesn't impress and more power is needed in his core to improve his contract balance.
