The Eagles are serious about adding speed this offseason, and added another quick receiver to their roster on Saturday, selecting Southern Miss WR Quez Watkins with the 200th overall pick.

Watkins finished his college career with 159 catches for 2,404 yards and 17 touchdowns in 34 games. He has good size at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds.

Watkins caught the attention of everyone when he ran the second-quickest 40 time at the NFL Combine (4.35). But while his speed is elite, and he looks quick, he isn’t especially dangerous after the catch as he is brought down easily and doesn’t break many tackles. Makes some impressive catches, but he is not especially great off the line-of-scrimmage and that is concerning for a player that has to win with speed.

In addition to Watkins, the Eagles have also added Jalen Reagor, John Hightower and Marquise Goodwin over the last three days.

Here is a scouting report on Watkins, via NFL.com:
Early-entry prospect with adequate size and speed but needs to prove he can rise to the occasion against NFL competition. Watkins' confidence has been affected by level of competition and his catch focus appears to change when he works into traffic. Hip tightness limits route effectiveness, but he runs well enough to work vertically and across the field with modest separation and above-average jump-ball talent. His leap in production is a good sign, but if he doesn't do a better job of getting away from press, he will have a hard time making it. The potential outweighs the concerns and he should be a Day 3 selection with a shot at becoming a WR4/5.
