With OTAs underway and training camp much close than you would think, here is a look at where things stand with the Eagles' offensive line after free agency and the draft.
Starters: Jason Peters, Brandon Brooks, Jason Kelce, Isaac Seumalo, Lane Johnson
Depth: Andre Dillard, Stefen Wisniewski, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Jordan Mailata, Matt Pryor
Overall: The Eagles' offensive line is a tough group to project.
On one hand, they have arguably the best group in the NFL when healthy. Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson and Brandon Brooks are all among the best, if not the best, in the league at their position. Peters played much better than he was given credit for last season, as he allowed 34 pressures in 16 games, which was 32nd best in the NFL among the 64 starting tackles. Although Seumalo is nothing to write home about, he is a solid player.
Bringing back Wisniewski gives the team an elite backup at all three interior spots, and Vaitai is a solid backup tackle as well. Add in Dillard, and there is plenty of talent along the Eagles offensive line.
The interesting thing about the Eagles' offensive line is that despite all of the talent there is still reason to be concerned due to age and injuries. Peters is 37-years old. Kelce is 31. Brooks is coming off of an Achilles injury and might not be ready for Week 1. Vaitai is a solid backup, but has been inconsistent, and it is unclear if either Dillard or Mailata can play in the NFL.
Most teams would kill to have the talent the Eagles do at offensive tackle, but as of now that talent is mostly potential as opposed to proven commodities. Where things could get interesting if if players start to go down — but not many teams in the league have quality backup offensive line depth.
If healthy, the Eagles have nothing to worry about along the offensive line.
