Players fighting for a roster spot are running out of time as starting on Friday the Eagles will begin trimming their roster from 90 players all the way down to 53.
Here is a look at where each player on the roster currently stands:
Long shots (25): Trae Elston, Donnel Pumphrey, Boston Scott, DeAndre Thompkins, Kevin Wilkins, Kasim Edebali, Jeremiah McKinnon, Sua Opeta, Keegan Render, Greg Ward, Carlton Agudosi, Anthony Fabiano, Alex Singleton, Cody Kessler, Josh Hawkins, Eli Harold, Ajene Harris, Sojourn Shelton, Aziz Shittu, Chris Worley, Hayes Pullard, Jason Thompson, Marken Michel, Will Tye, Riley Mayfield
Analysis: There are a few players on this list the Eagles are likely hoping they can bring back on the practice squad, starting with linebacker Alex Singleton, who has been impressive so far and had a nice game last Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. Running back Boston Scott could be a surprise addition to the roster, but he hasn’t done anything in either the training camp practices or the preseason to stand out. Newly acquired safety Rudy Ford is a wild card, considering the team traded for him and he is a strong special teams player. The numbers at safety are not in his favor, however, and arriving to camp so late won’t help his chances.
Bubble Players (17): Josh Adams, Daeshon Hall, Deiondre’ Hall, Mack Hollins, Joshua Perkins, Wendell Smallwood, Clayton Thorson, Shareef Miller, Alex Ellis, Nate Herbig, T.J. Edwards, Richard Rodgers, Orlando Scandrick, Brett Toth, Stefen Wisniewski, Rudy Ford, Josh Sweat
Analysis: It is going to be fascinating to watch how the Eagles decide to use their final four-to-five roster spots. General manager Howie Roseman is in win-now mode, which could cause him to keep older players who haven’t impressed in training camp like Wisniewski or Rodgers. Or, he could decide to use the finals spots to hold onto players that he wants to develop for 2020, keeping players like Thorson, Miller, Herbig or Toth. One surprise addition to the 53-man roster might be Ellis, who seemed to just be a camp body when they signed him, but has played really well as of late and could squeeze onto the roster if they decide to move on from Rodgers, who is currently dealing with a foot injury.
Locks (48): Nelson Agholor, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, Nigel Bradham, Brandon Brooks, Zach Brown, Fletcher Cox, Corey Clement, Vinny Curry, Johnathan Cyprien, Ronald Darby, Andre Dillard, Rasul Douglas, Jake Elliott, Zach Ertz, L.J. Fort, Dallas Goedert, Brandon Graham, Nate Gerry, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Jordan Howard, Treyvon Hester, DeSean Jackson, Malik Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Timmy Jernigan, Malcolm Jenkins, Lane Johnson, Cameron Johnston, Sidney Jones, Jason Kelce, Cre’Von LeBlanc, Rick Lovato, Avonte Maddox, Jordan Mailata, Josh McCown, Jason Peters, Matt Pryor, Hassan Ridgeway, Miles Sanders, Isaac Seumalo, Andrew Sendejo, Darren Sproles, Nate Sudfeld, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Derek Barnett, Rodney McLeod, Jalen Mills, Carson Wentz
Analysis: These players will be on the roster in some capacity in Week 1, whether it be on the active roster, the PUP or the injured reserve.
