Eagles sign Rodney McLeod to 2-year deal

The Eagles have re-signed safety Rodney McLeod to a two-year deal.

The team announced the move on Tuesday, the same day they announced the decision to bring back cornerback Jalen Mills but let safety Malcolm Jenkins go.

The contract is a two-year deal worth $12 million, according to a source.

McLeod joined the Eagles prior to the 2016 season and was one of the first major moves Howie Roseman made after taking back control of the team from Chip Kelly. Coming from the St. Louis Rams, McLeod has teamed with Jenkins to give the Eagles one of the best pair of starting safeties in the NFL. McLeod has totaled 223 tackles, eight interceptions and four forced fumbles in 49 games with the team.

Just how important McLeod is to the Eagles defense was crystal clear in 2018, when he missed 13 games due to a torn ACL, and the team struggled to replace him. Now that Jenkins is gone the Eagles will be counting on McLeod even more.
