At one point in Sunday night's maddening 24-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Eagles didn't have enough tight ends to play 12 personnel or enough receivers to run their usual 11 personnel.
It was that kind of night.
While injuries were not completely to blame, the Eagles' medical tent certainly had a busy night on Sunday as players streamed in-and-out with trainers all night long. The result was a whopping nine players — all of whom were going to play a role against the Falcons — leaving the game at some point.
As the dust settles from the loss, here is the latest on each player:
Tim Jernigan (foot): Jernigan left the game at halftime. It isn't completely clear when he injured his left foot, but he was seen in a walking boot after the game, which is obviously a very bad sign. With the Eagles already without defensive tackle Malik Jackson, losing Jernigan for an extended amount of time would be a significant blow.
DeSean Jackson (groin): Jackson, the team's best receiver, played just 11 snaps against the Falcons. He left the game just prior to the start of the second quarter, and did try to come back in at one point, but wasn't able to stay in the game. Jackson was visibly frustrated on the sideline and wasn't out on the field after halftime. Jackson had a noticeable limp walking out of the locker room after the game. His status for next Sunday should be considered very much up in the air.
Corey Clement (shoulder): Clement got injured during a crucial fumble at the start of the third quarter, a player that not only gave the Falcons a short field to work with, but also might have cost the Eagles their running back for an extended amount of time. Clement had his arm in a sling after the game in the locker room. It would be very surprising if he played next Sunday.
Dallas Goedert (calf): The injury to Goedert might have been the biggest blow of the night considering it happened before kickoff, but after inactives were announced. Goedert re-injured his calf during warmups, the same calf injury that kept him sidelined for most of training camp. Playing a team in the Falcons that loves to let teams take the underneath stuff, losing Goedert was likely a big blow to the gameplan right before kickoff. The fact Goedert was on the sideline the whole game was encouraging but it might be tough for him to play next Sunday.
Alshon Jeffery (calf): Jeffery played only seven snaps against the Falcons and spent the rest of the game one the sideline with a towel around his neck and his helmet on the bench. Jeffery seemed to be walking fine in the locker room without much of a limp, an encouraging sign for his chances of playing next week. That being said, calf injuries are tricky and can linger, so the Eagles might be cautious.
Carson Wentz (checked for concussion): There was certainly a lot of drama when Wentz went into the medical tent on Sunday night towards the end of the second quarter and Josh McCown entered the game. Wentz seemed to be shaken up on a big hit by linebacker Deion Jones, who got a shot right into Wentz's rib cage early in the game. It was actually the concussion protocol that put Wentz in the tent, however, as he had to be checked and cleared for a concussion. Wentz missed only six snaps before coming back into the game. He should be fine for next week.
Nelson Agholor (checked for concussion): When Agholor went down at the end of the first half the Eagles were briefly without all three of their starting wide receivers. Thankfully, Agholor was cleared and allowed back in the game after passing his concussion test. He will play next Sunday.
Sidney Jones (checked for concussion): Jones made a brief trip into the medical tent, the third player on the night that had to be tested for a concussion. He quickly returned.
Jason Kelce and Jason Peters: Both of the Eagles' offensive linemen were briefly looked at by trainers, but only Peters ended up missing one of the 81 snaps the unit played. It seems both should be fine for next Sunday against Detroit.
