Latest on Carson Wentz's hand injury

Despite returning to the game, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will be undergoing further tests on a right hand injury he suffered during the team's loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

"I don't think so," Wentz said when asked if he was concerned, "but obviously we'll wait and see."

The "wait and see" part is what should have fans concerned. Although x-rays were negative during the game, Wentz was seen leaving the stadium on Sunday night with his throwing hand heavily wrapped. The injury was clearly causing him discomfort after it happened during the game.

Wentz suffered the injury towards the end of the third quarter on a botched handoff with Miles Sanders. Wentz said he suffered the injury while making a tackle, and when he got back to the sideline, he immediately was looked at by trainers. He then proceeded to take some practice throws and snaps before going into the tunnel and into the locker room for x-rays. Wentz didn't end up missing any time.

The tests on his hand are likely going to be on Monday, with head coach Doug Pederson offering up an update at his noon press conference. The Eagles return to practice on Wednesday as they prepare to play the Miami Dolphins this upcoming Sunday.

The Eagles have already shown they are, understandably, going to be very cautious with Wentz. Even though they are in a playoff race, there is little doubt the Eagles will not take any chances with their franchise quarterback's throwing hand.

Even if he is healthy and does play next Sunday, Wentz will need to be better. The quarterback had one of the worst games of his career against the Seahawks, turning the ball over four times.

"I have to be better. I have to lead this team better. I have to protect the football better. We can't put it on the ground the way we did. It starts with me," Wentz said. "It starts with me and I'm frustrated. I know everyone is frustrated with this loss offensively. Like I said, turning the ball over. It starts with me. I have to be better and we will be."
