Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has a bruise on his throwing hand but offered a positive update on it Wendesday.
"Feels good. Feels good," Wentz said to reporters. "It's been calming down and it is in a good spot."
Wentz's positive update comes two days after head coach Doug Pederson made it clear that Wentz will be playing this upcoming Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
"Should be fine for the game," Pederson said.
Wentz feeling fine and not having any swelling on his hand is an obviously positive sign, and an indication that the healing from the bruise on his hand is going well. He is expected to practice on Wendesday, but it isn't clear yet if he will be a full participant.
Wentz suffered the injury towards the end of the third quarter on a botched handoff with Miles Sanders. Wentz said he suffered the injury while making a tackle, and when he got back to the sideline, he immediately was looked at by trainers. He then proceeded to take some practice throws and snaps before going into the tunnel and into the locker room for x-rays. Wentz didn't end up missing any time in the game.
The Eagles have already shown they are, understandably, going to be very cautious with Wentz. Even though they are in a playoff race, there is little doubt the Eagles will not take any chances with their franchise quarterback's throwing hand.
Assuming he does play this Sunday, Wentz will need to be better. The quarterback had one of the worst games of his career against the Seahawks, turning the ball over four times.
"I have to be better. I have to lead this team better. I have to protect the football better. We can't put it on the ground the way we did. It starts with me," Wentz said. "It starts with me and I'm frustrated. I know everyone is frustrated with this loss offensively. Like I said, turning the ball over. It starts with me. I have to be better and we will be."
