49ers willing to trade down; Could Eagles trade up?

The Eagles appear to have a willing trade partner if Howie Roseman wants to make a move up the draft board for a wide receiver.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter the San Francisco 49ers are open to moving both of their first-round picks, including No. 13 overall, in an effort to collect more picks in the draft. The 49ers currently don't have any second, third or fourth round picks, and have to wait all the way until pick No. 156 after they make their pick at No. 31.

The Eagles currently hold five picks prior to No. 156 — No. 21 (1st round), No. 53 (2nd round), No. 103 (3rd round) and then three fourth-round picks (No. 127, 145 and 146). That is plenty of ammunition to make a deal with the 49ers if they want.

The 49ers pick at No. 13 overall is worth 1,150 points, according to the NFL Draft Value Chart. The Eagles' pick at No. 21 is worth 800 points. If the Eagles offered up No. 53 (370 points) that would come up 1,170 points, slightly more than the value of the 13th pick.

If the 49ers would prefer to collect as many picks as possible the Eagles could offer up No. 21, No. 103 and all three of their fourth-round picks. Although that would come up to 999.5 points, slightly under the value of No. 13, it would increase the 49ers picks from two in the top 156 to six, giving them the volume of picks they seem to be seeking.

Whether the Eagles move up to No. 13 would almost exclusively depend on what receivers are still on the board. If Oklahoma's CeeDee Lamb makes it to No. 13 the Eagles should definitely make a move to land him, as he has all the qualities to be the No. 1, dominant receiver they are looking for. Alabama's Henry Ruggs is a possible trade-up target to No. 13.

It is also worth noting that if the 49ers are open to moving No. 31, the Eagles could make their selection at No. 21, then move back into the 1st round if a player they like is still on the board. The 49ers pick at No. 31 is worth 600 points, so an offer of No. 53, No. 103 and the three fourth-round picks would get very close (569.5) to getting a deal done.

Possible targets with the No. 31 overall pick could be a receiver like Clemson's Tee Higgins, Baylor's Denzel Mims or Penn State's KJ Hamler.

Giving up so many picks would hurt the Eagles' stated effort of collecting as much young talent as possible, but landing two first-round picks would certainly increase their chances of finding young, stud talent to build around.
