Sidney Jones ready to play vs. Vikings

The Eagles are getting one of their cornerbacks back this Sunday for their matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaking Friday at the NovaCare Complex before their final practice of the week, head coach Doug Pederson said he expect cornerback Sidney Jones to be ready to go on Sunday against the Vikings.

Although he didn't say it outright, it sounds like Jones will start and won't be playing on a snapcount. Assuming that happens, the Eagles' starting trio at cornerback should be Jones and Rasul Douglas on the outside with Orlando Scandrick at nickel. Craig James will go from starting against the Jets to being the top backup.

Jones has had an up-and-down season so far for the Eagles. He has shown signs of improvement playing on the outside and came away with his first career interception against the Atlanta Falcons. Staying on the field has once again been an issue for Jones, however, who has missed time against the Green Bay Packers and was on the sideline for the team's win against the New York Jets.

The Eagles getting Jones back this Sunday is important considering the offense they are going up against. With Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Dalvin Cook, the Vikings have an elite set of weapons to work with in the passing game. If the pass rush doesn't get after Kirk Cousins, it could be a long day for the Eagles' secondary. Having Jones healthy should give the unit a bit of a boost.

In other injury news, it sounds like receiver DeSean Jackson will not play on Sunday, but his week of rehab went well and there is a chance he plays next Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
