G.O.A.T. of Broad Street: Nick Foles is overrated

Foles 2
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

It's official.

By ranking Nick Foles within the top 10 of our GOAT of Broad St. debate, we have officially overrated the man that brought a Super Bowl to the city of Philadelphia for the first time.

For a city that I thought was a smart fanbase, this disappoints me. Why can't we just be honest regarding Foles? He had two other-worldly games, but for the most part, is a mediocre quarterback.

To put Foles ahead of people that had longevity and won championships in this town is downright disrespectful. I mean for the love of all that is holy, Foles hasn't even started and finished a full season as the Eagles quarterback!

I don't know how to contextualize Foles' career. It's truly remarkable, he's a mostly bad quarterback that can get hot out of nowhere-- even to the point of out-dueling Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.

But here's my attempt to properly rate Foles-- within the top 40 of the #GOATofBroadSt.

My first move is taking Foles out of the fan-voted top 20 of GOAT on Broad Street. In his place I'm substituting in Bill Barber in. Easy decision. Everyone else slides down one on our list. Jason Peters at 19, Bill Barber at 20.

21-30:

21: Harold Carmichael

22: Roy Halladay

23: Darryl Dawkins

24: Brian Westbrook

25: John LeClair

26: Jerome Brown

27: Andrew Toney

28: Seth Joyner

29: Mark Howe

30: Larry Bowa

Well, that was easy. Every single player above was a better player than Nick Foles and he shouldn't be ahead of any of them.

Let's keep going.

31-40:

31: LeSean McCoy

32: Eric Allen

33: Darren Daulton

34: Bobby Jones

35: Mike Quick

36: Curt Schilling

37: Claude Giroux

38: Jason Kelce

39: Pete Rose

40: Mo Cheeks

Haven't even broken a sweat yet.

Let's see if Foles can fit in the top 50.

41-50:

41: Jeremiah Trotter

42: Brian Propp

43: Zach Ertz

44: Cliff Lee

45: Troy Vincent

46: Shane Victorino

47: Carlos Ruiz

48: Nick Foles

And there you have it.

48th. That's right where Nick Foles should be ranked amongst the GOAT athletes in Philadelphia in the last 50 years. That is both respectful to what Nick Foles accomplished here and not disrespectful to what others accomplished here as well.

To put Nick Foles in the top 10 of the GOAT's of Broad St. is downright disingenuous and that's why the actual ranking had to be done.

For the sane Philadelphian's everywhere, you're welcome.
