Ritchie and DeCamara disagree on this Pederson ranking

Where does Doug Pederson rank among NFL coaches? CBSSports.com offered their official list on Tuesday morning which included the Eagles head coach within the top 10.

  8. Pete Carroll
  9. Doug Pederson

The next three coaches would have been Bruce Arians, Sean McDermott and Mike Vrabel.

94WIP's Midday Show disagreed on Pederson's ranking. "It's disrespectful," said Joe DeCamara about Pederson at #9.

"I question Doug," said Jon Ritchie. "I have no problem with Doug at #9. I think it's generous. I think it's great he is in the top 10 but I don't think he should be."

DeCamara believed that Pederson deserves to be just outside the top 5 at number 6 behind Belichick, Reid, Carroll, Harbaugh, and Tomlin.

"To me, 4, 5, 6 and 7 is where you start entering coin-flips."

"I think Mike Vrable has proven he is better head coach in a very small amount of time so you could say it's small sample size," continued Ritchie. "I think Bruce Arians is a better head coach than Doug. I know Frank Reich is something special and we are missing him desperately. I would put him above Doug based on what I saw from the Indianapolis Colts offensively speaking on the way they came together."

Pederson is one of eight coaches on the list to win a Super Bowl, as Shanahan and McVay have yet to win the big game despite reaching it during their careers. The CBS article does make specific note of McVay's ranking over Pederson and addresses Eagles fans directly.

"For Eagles fans specifically: Sean McVay has won roughly 69 percent of his games. Doug Pederson has won roughly 59 percent of his games. McVay took a bunch of flak for a bad 2019 season ... when the Rams still won nine games. Pederson has won nine games in back-to-back seasons. He also went 7-9 in his first season, which McVay has never done. On that note, Super Bowls are not the only thing that matters. I'm not going to base my rankings off one game. You can. There's definitely an argument for Pederson over McVay. But if you don't think there's an argument for McVay over Pederson, you're probably an Eagles fan or you're weighing the result of one game too significantly."
