Welcome to SportsRadio94WIP's Judgment Week, where we will find out who we were wrong about and ultimately revisit five topics in Philadelphia sports with the benefit of hindsight.
From Wednesday, July 8th to Wednesday, July 15th we took submissions for the final five topics. You can check those out here.
From Monday, July 20th to Friday, July 24th we will spend each day judging, discussing, and debating one of the five most submitted topics that we were wrong about.
1. Jason Kelce- Following what I thought were subpar seasons in 2015 and 2016 I had soured on Kelce. Following another poor performance in Week 2 of 2017 against the Chiefs I felt it was time to bench him. Since he has been arguably the best Center in football.
2. Doug Pederson- My instant reaction upon hearing the Eagles had hired Doug was to shake my head. After being right about Chip Kelly I felt like I’d unfortunately be right again as I was on the Gus Bus. Doug proved me wrong in year 2.
3. Charlie Manuel- When Charlie was hired by the Phillies I thought it was colossal mistake considering proven winner Jim Leyland was available. Charlie was unfairly cast by many including myself as a fool partially because of the way he spoke publicly but in 2007 he proved capable, pushing the right buttons and starting the greatest era in Phils history.
4. Brandon Graham- I was at the 2010 draft and booed vigorously when Graham was selected over Earl Thomas. For years Graham looked like a bust but he worked and improved every year and ultimately went on to make the biggest play in Eagles history.
5. Jarius Byrd/Malcolm Jenkins- I was disappointed in the 2014 offseason when instead of signing big name Free Agent Jairus Byrd, the Eagles opted for the more affordable option in Jenkins. Jenkins not only went on to be the far better player but became a pillar of this city’s community and was the unquestioned leader on the Super Bowl 52 champion team.
