Brown: 'Convinced' Embiid, Simmons will win a title

The 2019-20 76ers' season has been a rough one, to say the least and many are wondering if Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, whether individually or as a tandem, is the problem.

Sixers head coach Brett Brown says he's convinced that Embiid and Simmons will win an NBA championship together one day.

"You realize these guys are in a position where they can do some really special things and so how do we surround them with the resources to be able to do that?" Brown told reporters of Embiid and Simmons via NBC Sports Philadelphia.

"I personally am convinced that those two are going to win a championship at some point in their career, that they for sure can coexist. The myth that they can't, I think, is just so abused and not articulated the way I see it. But this whole expectation, anticipation is just part of the journey that we have been on in Philadelphia for the past seven years."

Currently, both Embiid and Simmons are not playing, as they are suffering from back and shoulder injuries, respectively. The Sixers, who play at the Los Angeles Lakers tonight, will also be without Josh Richardson who suffered a bruised nose in Sunday's game. Philadelphia will finished their west coast trip at Golden State and Sacramento before returning home for four straight games, where they are a league best 28-2.

The Sixers, at 37-24, need to get healthy quickly as they're now tied with the Indiana Pacers for the No. 6 seed in the East and 5.5 games behind the Raptors for the No. 2 seed.
