The Phillies are one of five National League teams involved in trade talks for 32-year-old right-handed starter Corey Kluber, according to MLB.com's Jon Morosi.
However, judging by Morosi's secondary tweet, it seems the Dodgers and Padres are closest to getting a deal done.
Kluber was 20-7 last season with the Indiana with a 2.89 ERA. In 2017, Kluber went 18-4 with a 2.25 ERA and five complete games, winning the AL Cy Young Award.
The Phillies probably aren't eager enough to give up a package built around top prospect 20-year-old Sixto Sanchez for Kluber, but as Manny Machado and Bryce Harper become less and less likely, the pressure on the Phillies heightens. And a desperate move for short-term results becomes more likely, right or wrong.
