Pederson admits 'Wentz can be better'

The Eagles' wide receivers combined for 6 catches on 17 targets for 75 yards in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. To say Carson Wentz did not have much help, well, that's an understatement.

Nevertheless, Wentz has high expectations and going 20-40 with just 214 yards, taking five sacks, just isn't good enough. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson made the clear on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show.

"He'll say it wasn't his best performance and he can get better. We can all better, obviously Angelo, and it starts with me number one. It starts there. I think with Carson, he'll look at this and go yeah, 'I can play a little better.' Now listen, he made some great runs. He had some tough scrambles, he took some shots in the pocket again and stood tough and did deliver the football, and did some nice things that way too. But he'll look at it, he'll get better, and move on from that.

"I think he would want some of those throws back. He's a much better passer that way, he's an accurate thrower that way. We did have some guys that were open and we've got to make sure we continue to coach and get them in the right spot."

Wentz and the Philadelphia offense went into the game with their top two wide receivers in DeSean Jackson (core muscle surgery) and Alshon Jeffery (ankle), plus their leading rusher in Jordan Howard. To make matters worse, Pro Bowl tackle Lane Johnson left the game early with a concussion.

Up next for the Birds is another home game with Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
