Eagles acquire Falcons LB Duke Riley

Duke Riley
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles have traded safety Jonathan Cyprien and a 2020 seventh-round draft pick for Falcons LB Duke Riley and a 2020 sixth-round pick, the team announced on Monday.

Riley, 25, is an undersized LB who was primarily a special teams player for the Falcons and was a third-round pick for the Falcons in 2017. Riley on has one snap on defense this season but lead the Falcons with 89% of the snaps on special teams.

It is a little interesting that the Eagles are deciding to stick with Andrew Sendjeo who has come under a lot of criticism over the past couple of weeks. Maybe this means that Avonte Maddox will move to safety once he returns from his neck and head injury, which would also leave the corner spot open for… you know who.

As for the trade itself, being able to flip Cyprien for anything is a win as he just signed as a free agent with the Eagles back on August 2nd.
