Wentz admits he did not play 'well enough' last season

Carson Wentz, addressing the media on Monday—the first day of team OTAs—admitted he did not play "well enough" in 2018.

Last season, Wentz threw for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 69.6-percent of his passes in 11 games. But for the second straight season, Wentz missed the end of the regular season and postseason due to injury, causing some concern for him long-term.

Wentz, 26, suffered broken ribs in the preseason his rookie season, he tore his ACL/LCL his sophomore season and a back injury sidelined him for the final five games of last season. The Eagles must make a long-term decision on Wentz in the near future, as 2019 is his final year with a guaranteed contract.

Wentz provided an update on his back injury on Monday, as well, saying that he's taking it "week to week."

Last week, Wentz' teammate Brandon Brooks defended the fourth-year QB on the 94WIP Zero Fs Given podcast saying, "Without Carson (in 2017), basically at that time, being the league MVP, we not sitting in the number one seed with a bye. You see what I'm saying?"

Wentz spoke about his challenging 2018 season a couple of months ago.

"I'll be straight up," Wentz told Philly.com on February 4th. "It hasn't been the easiest last year for me on the physical level, just battling the injuries, but then just personally going through it, sitting on the sideline and then playing and then sitting on the sideline again. So I realize like I maybe wasn't the greatest teammate at times because I was emotionally kind of all over the place. To the outside world, I probably didn't show it much. But internally, I mean, you're definitely fighting some sort of emotions. So there's things to learn just about how to handle myself in certain situations."
