The Philadelphia Eagles' decision to select quarterback Jalen Hurts is all the rage in Philly, and arguably the most polarizing decision of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The 21-year-old 6'2", 223-pound athletic QB made his debut on SportsRadio94WIP on Monday morning, saying all of the right things.
"It's all a tremendous blessing just to have this opportunity and be an Eagle," Hurts told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show.
Cataldi asked Hurts about getting drafted to play a backup role behind Carson Wentz.
"I will be sorrounded by a great quarterback in Carson, great coaches," Hurt said. "It's an opportunity for me to learn. I'm here to serve this team in any way I can, just take steps at the quarterback position. I'm excited for it.
"For me, it's been a dream to play at this level for a long time. It's always been a goal. Now it's time to grind. I'm gonna do everything I can to help this team. It all comes down to that, my work ethic and my grind."
Some have suggested the Eagles may be planning on using Hurts in the way the Saints use QB Taysom Hill along with Drew Brees, giving Hill a few gadget snaps per game.
"I have no idea what the future holds," Hurts said. "What I do see in the future is me working really hard and me trying to help this team in anyway that I can. More importantly than me right now, it's hard not being able to meet the guys. Everything is virtual."
As for the city of Philadelphia, Hurts says he's never been.
"A lot of die hard fans and take a lot of pride in their city, and their football team. It sounds like all great things. I've never been to Philadelphia."
