Eagles plan with Hurts: 'Taysom Hill on steroids'

"Taysom Hill (package) on steroids."

That's what one "source famaliar with the Eagles' draft evaluations," told Yahoo Sports in regards to Philadelphia's plan to use second-round pick QB Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles, of course, selected the 21-year-old dual threat QB with the No. 53 overall pick in this year's draft, stirring major controversy and debate in Philadelphia and throughout the league.

Are the Eagles just looking for a cheap, young backup? Are they worried about Carson Wentz's long-term health? Are they simply being progessive, getting ahead of more games and more creative offenses? Is the plan to trade Hurts in the future?

Many questions, but not so many answers...thus far.

"A source with specific insight on the Hurts selection said there was some offensive evolution in mind — as well as this pick being a stiff lean into the coaching staff's preference," Charles Robinson wrote for Yahoo Sports.

For comparison sake, Hill threw six times last season and seven times in 2018. Last year, he carried the ball 27 times for 156 yards and a touchdown and caught 19 passes for 234 yards and six scores, playing in all 16 games.

"I will be sorrounded by a great quarterback in Carson, great coaches," Hurts told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Monday. "It's an opportunity for me to learn. I'm here to serve this team in any way I can, just take steps at the quarterback position. I'm excited for it."
