Arcega-Whiteside would be ranked 18th WR in 2020 draft

In the 2019 NFL Draft, based on the NFL.com's grading projection scores, seven wide receivers were graded as better prospects than Eagles WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside, while nine other receivers were given the same prospect grade as JJAW.

Arcega-Whiteside was the sixth receiver taken in the 2019 NFL Draft, the 57th overall pick of the Eagles.

To illustrated how WR loaded the 2020 NFL Draft is, there are 17 WRs graded higher than Arcega-Whiteside's 6.20 in the 2020 class. The final WR graded higher than JJAW in this year's class is Lynn Bowden from Kentucky with a score of 6.24.

The top NFL.com graded 2020 prospect is CeeDee Lamb (6.81) followed by Jerry Jeudy (6.80).

As we know, the 23-year-old 6'2" WR had high expectations entering his rookie season, but disappointed. Arcega-Whiteside caught just 10 balls for 169 yards and one touchdown his entire rookie season. The No. 1 graded WR, according to NFL.com, D.J. Metcalf caught 58 balls for 900 yards and seven scores for Seattle. Metcalf was selected after Arcega-Whiteside in round two of the 2019 draft.

It is no secret the Eagles will be in desperate search of hitting on an elite level WR prospect in the 2020 draft. Arcega-Whiteside, Nelson Agholor, the signing of DeSean Jackson, and the re-signing of Alshon Jeffery have been a string of moves at the position that has not worked out for Philadelphia, at least thus far.

After Howie Roseman did not upgrade the WR position during free-agency, he said:

"As we look at our receiving group, I think it is important that we note — one, we have a lot of time before we play our first game. Two, also, we have some players coming back that we do think highly of and that we do think can contribute to our football team, have done that and been good players. Sometimes I think in the discussions we just kind of look at the moment in time when we were playing in the playoffs or those last four games and what was on the field there, but our goal isn't to have those guys only competing for jobs and raising the talent level. We have a lot of time here, and we will look at every opportunity to improve the team, and we also have guys that are in that rotation that are on our roster that we do think highly of and that we do think are going to be huge additions and help our team next year."

The Eagles have the 21st overall pick in the 2020 Draft.
