Mike Trout, Angels finalizing $430 million deal

Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels are finalizing a record breaking 12 year deal worth $430 million, according to Jeff Passan. There are reportedly no opt-outs in the contract.

Trout was under contract for 2019 and 2020, so the extension is actually for 10 years.

With the addition of Bryce Harper this offseason, combined with the fact that Trout is a Millville, NJ native and huge Philadelphia sports, many Philly fans hoped Trout would become a Phillie in 2020, when he was set to become a free-agent.

Harper, who signed a 13-year deal worth $330 million with the Phils, has been very open about his desire to recruit players to come to Philadelphia since signing with the team. The topic has come up when asked about why he signed a 13-year deal with no opt-outs. Trout has always been the player on the tip of Harper's tounge when discussing the subject.

Speaking with John Marks and Ike Reese on SportsRadio 94WIP, Harper gave his most direct comments on his plasn to recruit Trout to the Phillies.

"If you don't think I'm going to be calling Mike Trout in 2020 to have him come to Philly," Harper said, "you are crazy."

Trout, 27, is on track to be one of the game's greatest players ever. He is already a seven-time all-star and two-time AL MVP with a career WAR of 64.3 in eight seasons, the most in MLB history through the age-26 season.

In 1,065 games, Trout has slashed .307/.416/.573 with 240 home runs, 648 RBIs, 793 runs and 189 stolen bases.
