Former GM: 'Phillies are going to sign Trout in 2 years'

Less than 24 hours after the Philadelphia Phillies signed Harper to a 10-year deal worth $33 million, fans are now salivating over the idea of adding Mike Trout too, when he becomes a free-agent in 2021.

MLB Network Radio host and former MLB GM Jim Bowden says because of Harper's low average annual salary it's more than possible. In fact, Bowden seems 100-percent confident that Trout will become a Phillie in two years.

"The way I view it, 10 years, 330 (million) would have been a good deal at 33 (million) a year. But 26 (million) a year is going to allow them to sign Mike Trout in two years," Bowden said on Siriux XM radio. "And they're going to sign Trout by the way, in two years. Harper and Trout have been texting back and forth throughout this process. Harper reached out to Trout to ask him about the city of Philadelphia. Mike Trout and Harper are gonna be on this team in two years. Oh, just book it. Just get the cheesesteaks ready. You might as well start painting the billboards today because you are only two years away from that happening."

Woah, that's strong.

2021 with be Trout's age 30 season. Trout, a Millville, NJ native, is considered by most the best player in baseball. Harper, now a Phillie, is the most recognizable. Can you imagine a lineup of Trout, Harper, Rhys Hoskins, and J.T. Realmuto? Sheesh!
