Close to 500,000 people have signed a
Change.org petition in hopes that the NFL removes former Eagles QB Michael Vick as a 2020 honorary Pro Bowl captain.
"Just saw this on Facebook and was absolutely disgusted," the post reads. "When is the NFL going to take any responsibility for the behavior of it's current and former players? To honor a man who had zero regard for animals is unacceptable and I would like your help to make sure he is NOT honored at the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl. "
Vick, 39, who played for the Eagles from 2009 to 2013, of course pleaded guilty for his involvement in a dog fighting ring and spent 21 months in federal prison.
Vick's former teammate and Eagles great kicker David Akers stood up for Vick on Twitter.
Wow. Sad. Mike has paid for all he has done and more. He has done much behind the scenes as well to give back without wanting any public acknowledgement. https://t.co/2yLzrTUsxT
