Ike Reese: Wentz is most important Philly athlete

Carson Wentz

Not Bryce Harper, not Joel Embiid, not Ben Simmons, but Carson Wentz is the most important athlete in Philadelphia sports, according to Ike Reese and 70% of his 115,000 Twitter followers.

Carson Wentz is the MOST IMPORTANT athlete in Philadelphia. ------‍♂️

"Who would you want over the next 10 years?" Reese said on Friday's Marks & Reese Show. "Yeah, it's Carson Wentz without a question. I don't even know if we're gonna get 10 years out of Embiid, just because of his size. He's a big man, a lot of weight, with bad knees. I personally think we have a five to seven years window we need to win with Embiid or it's over, as far as building around him. Harper plays baseball."

Wentz, 26, is entering his fourth season in the NFL. His best year, in 2017, Wentz led the Eagles to an 11-2 catupulting them to their first Super Bowl ever. However, Wentz tore his ACL in Week 14 and missed the entire postseason. And last season, Wentz missed the postseason due to a back injury.

"Having the franchise top three, top five player in the NBA is more important to that team's success than having a Carson Wentz on the Eagles to that team's success," Jon Marks debated. "You can't win without having a Joel Embiid, you just can't win."

Embiid, 25, is in his second fully healthy NBA season and will lead Philly into the playoffs for the second straight. Embiid has also dealt with injury issues, as well, and hopes to get out of the second round for the first time in his career.
