Would you trade Nick Foles for Leonard Fournette?

Would you trade Nick Foles for Leonard Fournette? Of course, right?

In the latest CBSSports.com mock draft by Will Brinson, he proposed this idea, which had previously been discussed on 94WIP by Jon Marks and Ike Reese.

"There are some contractual issues here that might hold things up on both ends," Brinson admits. "Foles is either going to have his option picked up or will be given the franchise tag and traded. So he won't be cheap. Fournette isn't cheap either -- he has a top-10 salary over the next two years at the running back position."

To make the situation even more fluid, the Jags recently hired John DeFilippo as their new offensive coordinator. DeFilippo was the Eagles' QB coach in 2016 and 2017, helping Foles and Philadelphia win Super Bowl LII.

Fournette, 24, was Jacksonville's 4th overall pick in 2017. In two seasons, Fournette has played in 24 out of a possible 35 games, including three playoff games. As a rookie, Fournette rushed for 1,040 yards and nine scores in 13 games, plus another 302 and a 10th touchdown through the air.

Fournette has a $7.5 million (ish) cap hit in 2019 and a $8.7 million (ish) cap hit in 2020, with a dead cap number of about $4.5 million.

The Eagles have a messy running back situation, to say the least, and plenty of decisions to make this offseason.

The last time the Eagles drafted a running back in the first round was Keith Byars in 1986 and over their last 74 draft picks, they have selected just six running backs total, none before round four.

Sure, a mid-round pick for Foles would suffice, but the idea of getting a top-5 pick at a position of need is even more enticing.
