"Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick (Foles) and his family," said Jaguars' head coach Doug Marrone on Tuesday.
Foles did not show up for Offseason Team Activities on Tuesday for unknown personal reasons, and is out indefinitely. Mike Garafolo reports Foles' absence is open-ended, but he could return by the end of the week.
Foles signed a four year deal with Jacksonville this offseason worth $88 million after spending the past two seasons in Philadelphia, winning Super Bowl 52 in February of 2018. Of course, winning the franchise's first Super Bowl ever has helped Foles create a special bond with the city of Philadelphia.
"I love Philadelphia as a city," Foles wrote while explaining why he chose the Eagles for a second stint as a 28-year-old free-agent via The Players' Tribune. "I realized that this was much more than an X's-and-O's decision. It was a decision about what city our daughter was going to spend her first years in, and have her first memories in, and call her hometown."
The Eagles will face Foles and the Jaguars in Jacksonville in Week 2 of the NFL Preseason and it's going to be weird for everyone.
"It'll be crazy, but you know I'll be excited to go out there and compete against them with these guys," Foles said in April. "Philadelphia knows how much I'll always love them; I don't have to lie about that. It'll be fun to compete against Philadelphia."
