Phillies acquire OF Corey Dickerson

The Phillies have acquired outfielder Corey Dickerson from the Pirates, the team announced on Wednesday. 

#Phillies are giving up relatively little to acquire OF Corey Dickerson, who is making $8.5 million this season and will become a free agent after the season: a PTBNL and international bonus money.

Dickerson, 30, is hitting .317/.376/.556 in just 120 at bats this season.

Dickerson missed a significant part of the season with a shoulder injury and then a groin injury. 

In 2018, Dickerson won the Gold Glove award, posting a 2.7 fWAR and in 2017 he was selected to the All-Star team when he hit .282 with 27 homers.

With Jay Bruce injured, the Phillies will likely look for production from the left-handed hitting outfielder right away. Bruce is expected to return in about a week. The Phillies could also look to play Dickerson in the outfield with Adam Haseley or Jay Bruce, moving Scott Kingery to third base to replace the struggling Maikel Franco.

Dickerson is really good.A .300 hitter and won the gold glove last year.

Corey Dickerson is going to become Gabe Kapler's go-to pinch hitter.

Nice! Corey Dickerson is way more than a marginal pickup for @Phillies. He's been an all star and legit Gold Glover and has a lifetime .829 OPS. He's an everyday player (if healthy) for a team that needs offense.
